The Models

The first tranche of 8 production runs of the SLW Class 24 models are now sold out. Customers who obtain our models will always be given advance information and the opportunity to make future purchases before they are publicly announced. Five additional Class 24 liveries are scheduled for production this winter and further variations are proposed on an on-going basis. If you would like to see more models produced by SLW then we encourage you to make an early purchase. These models are only available direct from us and cannot be purchased in model shops or from other retail outlets.

Crewe-built production machine. As used by BR Research Department in RTC red/blue livery, named EXPERIMENT.
Later exhaust arrangement, exposed solebars but retaining original front end communicating doors.

Cat No. 2407 Running number D5040 
Crewe-built production machine. Eastern Region-based loco in mid-1960s BR two-tone green livery.
Later exhaust arrangement, lower bodyside fairings and retaining original front end communicating doors.

Crewe-built production machine. Eastern Region-based loco in mid-1960s BR two-tone green livery.
Later exhaust arrangement, lower bodyside fairings and retaining original front end communicating doors. 

Cat No. 2408: Running number D5082
A much-requested model, representing a Crewe-built machine following the adoption of small warning panels.
The most prolific body detail/green livery combination in the early-1960s. Includes etched CONDOR headboard.

Cat No. 2409 : Running number 24009
This Scottish machine was the very last to be given a full overhaul and a fresh coat of BR blue paint at St. Rollox.
As well as the distinctive style of plated over front, the TOPS numbering is uniquely positioned on the bodyside.

Cat No. 2409A: Running number 5099 
Scottish-based locomotives are always popular and many ‘skinhead’ machines were based north of the border.
Our first pre-TOPS model in BR blue features the Glasgow Works style of plated-over front doors.

Early pre-TOPS numbers in 1968 onwards BR blue livery.

Cat No. 2461: Running number 24117
Inverness-based locomotive with headcode boxes and working headlights.
Post 1974 TOPS numbers and plated front ends.

First built, pilot scheme locomotive in original all-over BR green livery with grey roof and waist level stripe.
Original exhaust and silencer arrangement, lower bodyside fairings and front end communicating doors.

Production locomotive, last of the class running. BR blue livery with full yellow ends, white trim and silver buffers.
Later exhaust arrangement, exposed solebars and plated over front doors.

Pilot scheme locomotive in standard BR green livery before the application of yellow warning panels.
Extra bodyside air intake grilles, original exhaust and front end doors plus experimental ‘Athermos’ axle boxes.

Production locomotive from Darlington build. BR green livery with polished grille surrounds and small yellow warning panels.
Original exhaust arrangement, lower bodyside fairings and front end communicating doors.

Production locomotive from Darlington build. BR green livery with polished grille surrounds and small yellow warning panels.
Original exhaust arrangement, lower bodyside fairings and front end communicating doors. Later used on Tyne Dock-Consett line.
